Internet-based Education for Prostate Cancer Screening
Quality of Life of Long-Term Prostate Cancer Survivors in the PLCO Trial

Kathryn Taylor, PhD, is an associate professor of oncology at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. She completed her doctoral in psycho-oncology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, follow by a postdoctoral fellowship also in psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Taylor is Georgetown's co-PI for the PLCO and NLST national clinical trials.

The development of methods to assist men with the prostate cancer screening decision may serve as a model for other complicated choices that patients are asked to make. In work that addresses this need and integrates the cultural and decision making themes, Dr. Taylor completed a randomized trial of a printed booklet and a culturally sensitive/tailored decision support videotape about prostate cancer screening for African American men. An electronic copy of the booklet is available on this website under screening.
