John Lynch, MD
John Lynch is the Chairman, and a Professor, of the Department of Urology, as well as a Professor in the Department of Surgery. His main interest is in the area of urologic oncology, particularly prostate cancer. He is an expert on prostate screenings, genetic risk for prostate cancer, prostate cancer surgery, PSA screening tests, and cancer survivorship. His special interests are in urologic oncology, urinary diversion, nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, treatment of benign prostatic enlargement.
Dr. Lynch has been on the faculty at Georgetown since 1979. In addition to being Chairman of the Department of Urology, Dr. Lynch is also Director of the newly formed Prostate Cancer Center within the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
He serves as Co-Chairman of the Committee on Medical Education in the school and is also a member of the Committee on Students and Cancer Committees. Additionally, he is the Clerkship Director for the third year medical school clerkship in Surgical Specialties. On a national level, he is on the Executive Committee of the Society of Urology Chairs and Program Directors and will soon serve on the Board of Directors of the American Urological Association. He is a member of the American Urological Society, Society of University Urologists, Society of Urologic Oncology and a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has been on the Top Doctors list in the Washingtonian for well over ten years.
