How to Help

Dear Friend,

The Prostate Center at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center provides an invaluable service to the Washington, DC community. Cancer rates in the national capital area are above the national average. The Prostate Center has significantly enhanced Lombardi’s ability to research and treat prostate cancer-specific issues with a focus on the overall well-being of the patient and of the wider community.

I can personally speak to this, having been a patient here myself. During an annual physical, my PSA level was elevated. My doctor, here at Georgetown, diagnosed early stage prostate cancer. Under the care of the physicians in my department, I had surgery and have been cancer-free since that time.

My experience is not unique, and it is not lucky. We know that annual screening for prostate cancer saves lives. And at Georgetown, we know that we can do better in the fight against prostate cancer. Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is a beacon for scientists who share a desire and possess the drive to provide relief from the ravages of cancer – to provide hope and to improve the human condition.

But we cannot do it alone. To succeed, we need your support.

Your support not only drives the researchers to work harder, but makes possible their everyday activities that are leading to the cure. And that means our patients, and men around the world, will benefit through improved screening and diagnosis, access to state-of-the-art treatments and new strategies for preventing prostate cancer.
